Sonoran Glass Camp - Summer 2017
Monday June 19 - Friday June 23
Jr Camp Ages 7-9
9am - noon each day
Campers will learn about glass as a form of Art. They will arrange and layer pieces of colored glass to form designs and patterns, reproduce their own artwork using glass paints, learn about the science of glass and create items like wind chimes, garden stakes and plates. These projects will be melted and shaped in a kiln. We will discuss how an item can be created using 2 other glass methods: glass blowing (molten glass), flame work (heated with a torch). Campers will get to see first-hand how glass art is created using these different methods, discuss other types of glass art and create additional projects. We'll visit Sonoran Glass School during two days of camp for a tour of the "Warm, Flame and Hot shops".
Campers should bring a (peanut free) snack and refillable water bottle each day.
Non-Members $140/ Children's Museum Tucson members $110
